Jekyll Island Vacation: How to manage your home business while on vacation.
If you have a home business, one of the obstacles that you encounter is trying to make it work for you so you can do the things that you love.
That’s the point of building a home business, right?!
If you have read the ABOUT ME page, then you know that I am originally from upstate New York.
My parents still live there.
My brother is in Georgia, and I am in Tennessee.
It’s hard to get all of us together at the same time.
I have to find animal care for the farm, my brother has his own job, and so do my parents.
Once a year though, we try to take a vacation where we can all get together.
This year we decided that we wanted to go to Jekyll Island in Georgia.
Have you ever been there?
There are these huge bridges that get you over the water and to land.
My husband and I got a hotel with my parents at the Days Inn on Jekyll Island.
It was a cute little place.
We were right by the ocean.
There was a little bridge that you take over the sand dunes to get to the seashore.
One of the things that I love about most hotels, is the high speed internet.
Cell service isn’t always great, but having internet in the room was enough for me to get my main activities done.
Every time I go on vacation, we always try to do as many things as we can.
So that means I have to plan what I’m doing carefully.
Have you created any automation for your business?
Adding some automation to your business makes your life so much easier.
You want your business to work for you, you don’t want to have to work for your business.
Our first day on the island, we went to the Drift wood beach, Horton House, The Georgia Sea Turtle Center, my brothers house and then out to dinner at The Crab Shack.
I woke up early in the morning to get things set up for my day.
I responded to social media messages and comments, and created my posts for the day.
Did you know that you can use your traveling to make new connections or even start conversations with followers who don’t normally talk with you?
That’s one of my favorite things to do.
I’m very strategic with my pictures and what I write because I want to people to love watching the journey and share their own input as well.
So you may be wondering how I actually get my business to work for me without having to sit on social media all day.
This is pretty simple.
I use funnels for my marketing.
This allows me to create a way to generate interest and get people raising their hand for what I offer.
I have tried several different programs including the very popular Click Funnels…but many companies charge a lot of money without doing much for the user.
The software that I’m using now houses EVERYHING without extra fees.
My blog, funnels, customer relationship software and everything else that I use is included in one easy to use tool.
Once I get all my messages sent, and posts written, I set up the funnels in different areas to market whatever I am promoting at the time.
If someone wants it, then they will let me know.
By the way, this also works for you when you are sleeping, out to dinner, hiking or doing anything else that pulls you away from your computer.
While we were on vacation at Jekyll Island, I got everything set up early in the morning (I’m more of a morning person).
Then we went to do whatever we wanted.
I don’t know about you, but my family LOVES to see as much as we can when we are on vacation.
The first day we went to Drift Wood Beach to walk around and check out the forest in the sand.
The pictures that we got while there were beautiful!
These trees had root systems that looked like mazes…and there were so many oyster shells everywhere!
Have you ever seen anything like this?
After exploring the beach, we walked up to Horton House.
The frame of this long standing structure is made of a composite containing seashells. Pretty cool!
After exploring Horton House, we went to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center to learn about the rescue work they do and what sea turtles experience as they go through life.
My favorite one was named Glitter Mittens!
Everyone says it sounds like something that I would name one of my own animals, hahaha.
As our day came to an end, we ran up to my brothers house to see all his critters and then head out to dinner at The Crab Shack.
He has chickens, dogs and a rabbit.
His fluffy chickens are my favorite!
You probably guessed from the name, that The Crab Shack sells seafood…
A LOT of it!
I absolutely love the mussels there.
We ended up getting these giant seafood platters for our family.
So much food!
When you go here there’s a neat enclosure where they house several alligators.
It was a little chilly when we were there, so they weren’t really active. Still very cool to see all the same!
There are also several resident cats that hang around waiting for food.
We had an older grey one that sat with us while we ate, waiting to see if anyone would give him anything.
I didn’t have the best cell service while we were going around Jeykll Island, but that’s OK.
The automation that I set up was working for me.
When we got back to the hotel where I could check my email, there was a notification that I had a new lead.
If you want to be able to add some automation to your business, check this out!
Until next time 🙂
